Biography

Susan Lynch serves as Principal Gifts Officer for The Catholic Initiative, where she brings enthusiasm, purpose, and a steadfast commitment to its mission of serving Catholic communities in need. Inspired by the transformative power of everyday acts of kindness, she is honored to contribute to work that strengthens parishes, schools, and the families they serve.

Raised in Detroit, Susan learned early the values of grit, loyalty, and community, qualities that have shaped both her character and her career. She earned her undergraduate degree from Marquette University and her law degree from Fordham University School of Law, and called Chicago home for more than thirty years before relocating to South Bend with her family in 2020.

In Chicago, Susan built a successful legal career in real estate development while transforming her own estate liquidation business into a luxury enterprise, a professional life defined by resilience, sophistication, and a deep commitment to helping people thrive. Across law, business, and philanthropy, her work remains guided by her Catholic faith.

An accomplished attorney, entrepreneur, and seasoned development professional, Susan draws on a varied background that has uniquely shaped her approach to her work, one grounded in authenticity, trust, and an unwavering belief in the power of relationships and human connection.

Susan previously served as Regional Director of Development at the University of Notre Dame, cultivating meaningful relationships with families across the Midwest and Canada, primarily in Detroit and Chicago, and helping translate philanthropic vision into transformational support for the University. She attributes her success to a genuine gift for listening, connecting, and inspiring others, building trust and creating thoughtful opportunities for people to see themselves as part of something larger than themselves.

Above all, Susan’s greatest source of pride is her family. Her husband, Morgan Fingleton, hails from County Roscommon in the west of Ireland and has spent more than forty-five years as a professional musician, bringing joy to audiences through his craft. Together they are the proud parents of two sons, Darragh and Eoin, both pursuing university studies as they prepare to make their own contributions to the world.
