Kara Hughes

Kara Hughes developed a strong foundation in faith through her Catholic education, which continues to shape her work today. She brings that perspective to The Catholic Initiative, where she helps secure grant funding to restore and endow Catholic parishes and schools, ensuring they remain vibrant centers of faith, community, and support for generations to come.

Kara began her work with the Pulte Family Charitable Foundation, where she contributed to strategic initiatives and investments before transitioning full-time to The Catholic Initiative. In her role, she leads grant research and funding efforts, helping build the partnerships that make this work possible. She is passionate about strengthening Catholic institutions and expanding access to the communities they serve.

Kara is based in Chicago and enjoys making the most of the city’s summers, whether on the water along Lake Michigan or exploring new neighborhoods and restaurants throughout the city.
