Craig Horvath
Principal Gifts
Born in South Bend, Indiana, Craig Horvath is the oldest of six children. He graduated from Saint Joseph’s High School and the University of Notre Dame, where he developed a deep commitment to service and faith. He spent part of his early career with the Congregation of Holy Cross at LeMans Academy, serving as Athletic Director, Soccer and Basketball Coach, and Dorm Prefect. Living alongside the Holy Cross Priests and Brothers, he discerned both the priesthood and brotherhood before ultimately pursuing a path in fundraising and advancement. Craig later worked as Chief Fundraiser for Holy Cross College at Notre Dame, IN, followed by leadership fundraising roles at the University of Notre Dame, where he helped launch the university’s first Athletics Advancement team. He also served as a Major Gifts Officer for the Congregation of Holy Cross, supporting their Hope to Bring capital campaign.
Craig is passionate about expanding access to Catholic education and helping parishes restore and renew their buildings and communities. His dedication to social justice within the Catholic faith has been a driving force throughout his career, making his work at The Catholic Initiative a natural extension of his mission to serve.
Craig is a proud father of three and enjoys life with his family, which includes two beloved dogs, Biscuit the poodle and S’mores the mutt.
